Eligiendo camisas
— Sabes, Pepe, me gustaría oír algún otro cuento de este libro de Frontaura, es muy cómico.
— A mí también.
— Y a mí.
— Os leería algo, pero tengo hambre.
— Yo sabía que no nos lo negarías.
José comió y después leyó el siguiente cuento:
— “¿Tiene usted camisas hechas?
— Sí, señora... ¿de hombre?
— Sí, señor, sí, de hombre para mi esposo.
— Aquí tiene usted ...
— ¡Jesús! Qué hechura ... qué pechera ...
— Son las de última moda.
— ¿Qué te parece, Marcos?
— ¿Yo? Lo que tú quieras.
— ¿Es bastante cumplida? ... porque le gustan muy largas.
— Mira, hija, mira, tiene la misma falta que las que tú me haces; el faldón delantero es más corto que el otro.
— Eso es preciso, caballero.
— Hombre, no veo la precisión.

— Diga usted, ¿y le parece que a mí me ve alguien en camisa? ...

— Hombre, no; una camisa ... Ahora quiero de la docena de camisas una camisa, y ya vendremos por las demás cuando se necesiten.

1. Spanish Conditional Mood Simple (modo potencial/condicional simple)
Me gustaría oír.
I would like to hear.
Os leería algo.
I would read you something.
Sabía que no nos negarías.
I knew you would not deny us.
The simple tense of the conditional mood (modo potencial simple or modo condicional simple) expresses hypothetical actions that would or might happen in the past, the present, or the future. It is also used to express wishes, to give advice and suggestions or to invite and ask in a polite way, for example:
Tendría entonces treinta años.
I would have been thirty years old then.
Os leería algo.
I would read you something. (now or later)
¿Le gustaría tomar té o café?
Would you like to have tea or coffee?
¿Qué sombreros comprarías tú? — Yo me compraría los negros.
What hats would you buy? — I would buy the black ones.
The simple tense of the conditional mood is formed with the infinitive verb and the following endings:

Note. The stress falls on í in all the persons.
When conjugating irregular verbs in the simple tense of the conditional mood, there are the same deviations in conjugations as in the future tense of the indicative mood, e.g.:

When conjugating the verbs in the present tense of the conjunctive mood, there are the same deviations in conjugations as in the present tense of the indicative mood, e.g.: tengo, que tenga.
2. The sequence of tenses (continuation)
In Spanish, a future tense is not used after a past tense in compound sentences, except for a past perfect tense. In order to express an action in the future after a past tense, the conditional mood is used, e.g.:
dijo que leería un libro interesante
he said he would read an interesting book

Note:
The sounds [ge] [gi] are usually written with the combinations gue, gui; because when written like this: ge, gi - would sound like [xe] [xi].

III. Translate into English:
Juan y Juana decidieron que irían a la camisería para comprar una camisa a Juan. Juan prometió que compraría una camisa azul, porque a Juana le gusta este color. Juana prometió que no usaría más el sombrero con pájaros, porque no le gusta a Juan. Cuando compraron la camisa, Juan y Juana decidieron que irían a visitar a la abuela de Juana. La abuela decía que habría siempre cosas buenas para comer en su casa.
IV. Translate into Spanish using, if possible, pretérito simple:
When we were in the shirt shop we were told that soon there would be new and nice shirts. We decided that we would go back to buy one. I promised to buy Juana a hat, so we went then to the hat shop. There they sold us a hat and promised to send it home the same day. Juana considered that everything is very expensive and decided that she would not buy anything else today, but Juan wanted to buy something for Carmen because he promised to buy it for her.
