Frequently Asked Questions about Lingust
About the website
Who or what is Lingust?
Having left the structured instructions for learning foreign languages on this website, it set out to explore the languages of other planets... Those who follow its instructions will surely succeed in learning foreign languages.
What kind of bird is on your website?
Meet Lexi, the Firebird. This mascot was chosen intentionally and carries a deep meaning that perfectly reflects the essence of language learning and matches our website’s warm color palette.
The Slavic Firebird can be seen as:
A symbol of a beautiful goal. In fairy tales, the Firebird is an extraordinary treasure that heroes embark on a long and challenging journey to find. A single feather, once caught, illuminates a dark room like a thousand candles. Similarly, the first step in learning a language is like finding that magical feather—it sheds light on a previously unfamiliar world of foreign speech.
A symbol of knowledge and enlightenment. The glow radiating from the Firebird is not just physical fire. In traditional culture, light represents truth, intellect, and clear understanding. Capturing the Firebird (mastering a language) requires a persistent, brave, and hardworking hero willing to overcome the challenges of grammar, pronunciation, and practice.
A symbol of cultural wealth and beauty. Its golden feathers shimmer with all the colors of the rainbow, symbolizing the immense cultural treasures that open up to anyone who learns a language: literature, cinema, music, and the unique mindset of another nation.
About the creator and project history
Often, IT specialists lack an understanding of what language learners actually need, while linguists may not know how to build a user-friendly and functional website. Merging these two fields is highly challenging and resource-intensive, which is why I manage the project independently.
As recommended by Google to improve transparency, I have created a personal page: About the Author.

How can I support the website?
The website is hosted on a high-capacity server and requires ongoing technical maintenance, meaning your support is essential for its survival. Non-intrusive ad revenue is what allows this project to remain free and accessible to everyone.
If you do not see any ads, it means a blocker is enabled in your browser. The most popular blocker is uBlock Origin. To disable it for our site, simply click the power icon so it turns grey, like this:

How to behave on the website (Community Guidelines)?
- No spamming: Do not post external links in the comments. They will be deleted immediately to prevent advertising spam.
- Step-by-step learning: Do not skip ahead to the next lesson until you have fully mastered the current one. Language learning is cumulative.
- Mutual respect: Avoid insults, toxicity, and aggressive behavior. Let’s keep our learning community friendly and constructive.
- Constructive feedback: If you find a technical bug or a typo, please report it. However, please remain polite. Unconstructive demands or disrespectful comments will be moderated.
- Language of comments: Please write clearly. Good grammar in your comments helps other users understand your questions and discuss lessons effectively.
- Basic tech literacy: If you struggle with using web features, ask a friend or family member for help. It is difficult to troubleshoot technical issues if we cannot understand what is happening on your device.
Is there a mobile version of the website?
The audio player is not working. What should I do?

Before asking a question, please read through the existing comments under the lesson—your question might have already been answered. If not, feel free to use the comment section below each lesson to ask for help.
About learning foreign languages
What level will I reach after completing your courses?
Language proficiency is typically divided into six CEFR levels: A1 (Beginner), A2 (Elementary), B1 (Intermediate), B2 (Upper-Intermediate), C1 (Advanced), and C2 (Proficiency). These levels are relative.
Our core online courses cover the A1-A2 levels, while the English and the Spanish courses goes up to B1. Achieving a solid B1 level through independent study on our platform is highly realistic if you study consistently.
I don’t understand the material. What should I do?
What if I find a mistake or a typo?
I’ve been learning for a while; I can read, but I still can’t speak...
Is it a good idea to learn multiple languages simultaneously?
If you have enough free time, energy, and strong motivation, you can certainly try studying two languages at once. However, for most learners, we highly recommend focusing on one language first until you reach a stable intermediate level, before moving on to another.
