French from scratch!

Decided to learn French? Great choice! French is spoken by over 300 million people in 43 countries around the world – from Paris to Montreal, from Brussels to Dakar. Many consider French the most beautiful language on the planet – and it’s easy to verify this by starting to learn it from scratch right now. Lingust will help you with this – for free and at a comfortable pace.

For the beginner level, the popular self-study guide by V. Panin and L. Leblanc © is provided in the form of online lessons. The first 12 lessons are dedicated to the rules of reading and pronunciation. It is important to master these lessons well, otherwise, you won’t be able to read properly later, and comprehending spoken text will be even harder given the speed of speech. By mastering these lessons, you’ll have one less problem, because, for example, in English, it is very difficult to read a text correctly without checking a dictionary. Here, you can learn this, although it will be harder than, for example, in German, where you don’t need to look in the dictionary for pronunciation at all, whereas in Chinese you constantly need to carry a dictionary around... We digressed a bit... :)

Next, there will be 20 lessons on grammar and vocabulary, accompanied by tests to consolidate the material. These lessons are suitable for both children and adults. By mastering them, you will be able to communicate in French on everyday topics, read intermediate-level French texts, and get rid of the awkward feeling of being an outsider when going on vacation to Paris or any French-speaking country without knowing the norms of language behavior.

The exercises are accompanied by text input forms; the answers to the exercises are located below them on the right in the form of a key Key. To see the answer, you need to hover your mouse over the key. Audio, if available, is usually placed immediately after the exercise description.

What you will get after completing the course

  • Reading skills – you will be able to read French texts without a dictionary
